Uzbekistan Hosts Training on Artificial Intelligence and Big Data for Public Services

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A five-day seminar and training program was held in Tashkent Region to enhance the skills of ICT specialists in Big Data, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The event gathered 30 specialists from the Ministry of Justice and other agencies involved in digitalizing public services, staff from Public Service Centers, as well as data and AI experts from IT Park and startups.

The training was organized under the EU-funded project “Further Improvement of Public Service Delivery in Uzbekistan,” implemented by the UN Development Programme (UNDP) in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice.

The program aimed to strengthen practical skills in using modern digital solutions and AI technologies to improve the quality and accessibility of public services. Participants studied AI principles, the full lifecycle of AI projects—from data preparation and model development to implementation and evaluation—as well as practical scenarios for applying these technologies in the public sector.

Special attention was given to responsible and ethical AI use, data and risk management, and cybersecurity. Participants developed proposals to enhance public services, created AI implementation schemes, and presented group projects designed to increase transparency and efficiency in citizen interactions with government agencies.

Christos Marazopoulos, Second Secretary and Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation to Uzbekistan, emphasized the EU’s support for Uzbekistan’s efforts to build a modern, citizen-oriented public administration system where AI technologies make services more accessible.

Anas Fayyad Karman, Deputy Resident Representative of UNDP in Uzbekistan, noted that developing competencies in AI and data science lays the foundation for more transparent and responsive governance that meets contemporary societal needs.
