Uzbekistan hosts national forum on sustainable cotton production
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 25–26 February, Uzbekistan hosted a national forum on sustainable cotton production, organized in cooperation with Better Cotton.
The event brought together representatives from Better Cotton’s leadership, the National Commission on Combating Human Trafficking and Ensuring Decent Work, the Uztextileprom Association, government agencies, international organizations, textile enterprises, and the academic community.
During the forum, experts presented research findings on sustainable cotton production, outlining key conclusions and recommendations for further industry development.
Discussions focused on policy and institutional reforms aimed at modernizing the cotton sector, expanding financial support for farmers, introducing innovative technologies, improving infrastructure, and enhancing the industry’s global competitiveness.
International specialists shared their expertise and proposed strategic measures to strengthen the sustainability of Uzbekistan’s cotton farming.
As a result of the forum, participants identified prospective areas for further cooperation and outlined key steps to ensure the sustainable development of the industry.
