Uzbekistan Holds Nationwide Measles Immunization Week

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A nationwide Measles Mass Immunization Week is underway across Uzbekistan from 2 to 14 February, the press service of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Committee reported.

The campaign is aimed at reducing the risk of the disease’s spread and expanding population coverage with preventive vaccinations.

The main focus of the initiative is the immunization of children aged six months to one year, as well as children between one and seven years old who have not been vaccinated previously or have received only a single dose of the vaccine. Immunization is also planned for individuals beyond childhood, up to the age of 30.

During the campaign period, infants undergo mandatory medical examinations, after which measles vaccination is administered to healthy children.

At the same time, age-based registration of children is being carried out, and information on administered vaccinations is recorded in preventive immunization cards.

The Sanitary and Epidemiological Committee urged parents to ensure timely vaccination of their children, stressing that immunization remains one of the key factors in protecting public health and preventing infectious diseases.
