Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A two-day working meeting took place in Tashkent, culminating on March 4 with a high-level roundtable focused on improving interagency cooperation in addressing socio-economic challenges faced by women.
Special attention was given to enhancing the effectiveness of response systems for cases of discrimination and violence against women.
The events were organized by the Committee for Family and Women Affairs of Uzbekistan, in partnership with the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) in Uzbekistan and with support from the Government of the United Kingdom.
The primary goal of the meetings was to strengthen interagency collaboration in addressing women’s socio-economic issues, identify priority tasks based on analysis of cross-sector cooperation among specialists, and develop practical action plans and coordination mechanisms.
Approximately 90 specialists from national, regional, district, and mahalla levels participated, including representatives from the Accounts Chamber, Committee for Family and Women Affairs, National Social Protection Agency, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Health, and the Association of Mahallas of Uzbekistan, as well as practitioners and NGO representatives from Karakalpakstan, Tashkent city, and all regions.
