Uzbekistan Hits Record 43% Renewable Energy Share

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 13 March, Uzbekistan’s energy system recorded a historic milestone as 43% of electricity consumption was supplied by renewable energy sources (RES).

According to the Ministry of Energy, by 11:00 a.m., the country’s total electricity demand reached 9,900 MW, of which 4,300 MW came from “green” sources. Solar photovoltaic (PV) plants contributed the largest share with 3,100 MW, wind power supplied 660 MW, and hydropower generated 540 MW.

The combined capacity of 15 major solar PV stations in operation across the country totals 3,930 MW. Experts note that the cool weather following rain and snow enhances solar panel efficiency up to 79%, contributing to the record figures.

These achievements reflect Uzbekistan’s ongoing energy reforms, which not only promote environmentally clean production but also strengthen the resilience of the national power system.
