Uzbekistan harvests 7.61m tonnes of grain

Uzbek President said that Uzbek farmers achieved such a high result for the first time. He said that some farmers recorded high yield.

In his message, President Islam Karimov said that Uzbek farmers harvested 500,000 tonnes of grain more compared previous year. Average yield made up 55 centners, he said.

Islam Karimov recalled that Uzbekistan produced only 940,000 tonnes of grain in 1991 and the yield was 17 centners per hectare. The yield level rose three times and the volume of crop rose seven times, he said.

Uzbek President Islam Karimov underlined that the yield in some farms reached 65-75 centners, while the yield made u 100 centners per hectare in over ten farms.

Islam Karimov said that farmers kept about 50% of crop or 3.524 million tonnes of grain. He said that this means that farmers will receive good income.
