Uzbekistan Halts Vehicle Testing at Piskent Automotive Proving Ground
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As of 2 September 2025, Uzbekistan has discontinued the practice of testing vehicles at the Piskent proving ground, the Agency for Technical Regulation reported.
Since November 2024, individual tests had been conducted at the site for vehicles that had not received type approval in accordance with the technical regulations approved by the Cabinet of Ministers. This measure was introduced after cars without quality certification were imported into the country.
Until 2024, only three dealerships in Uzbekistan had type approval, covering just 15 car models. Today, 21 official representatives of foreign companies operate in the country, with documentation completed for more than 100 models. This has enabled the establishment of systematic supplies of certified vehicles and expanded consumer choice.
According to the agency, the increase in the number of official dealerships and service centers has eliminated the need for testing at the proving ground. The quality and safety of imported vehicles will remain under control, and in cases of non-compliance or consumer complaints, appropriate measures will be taken.
The agency advises citizens to purchase vehicles exclusively from official dealers.
