Uzbekistan Gender Commission’s website launched

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Within the framework of a joint project of the Ministry for Support of Mahalla and Family and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) "Empowering women to participate in public administration and increase their activity in socio-economic life" the website of the Commission for Ensuring Gender Equality of the Republic of Uzbekistan was developed - “www.genkom.uz”. This project was implemented with financial support from the Swedish government.

On the website the users can get acquainted with the activities of the commission, find out information about the composition of the commission, cooperation of the commission with various international organizations, NGOs and government agencies. Also, on this platform, the users can familiarize the usersrself with important regulations, which are the legislative basis for ensuring the rights of women in Uzbekistan. In addition, the users can read the report on the work done by the commission.

The most important part of the website is the "Interactive Services" section. In this section the users can find information and contact details of all rehabilitation centers to provide assistance to victims of violence throughout the country. To do this, go to the "Interactive Map" subsection and on the appeared map of Uzbekistan select the region in which the user wants to contact the rehabilitation center. After that, a window opens with contact information for all existing rehabilitation centers in the region.

There is also a Questions and Answers subsection in the Interactive Services section where website visitors can get answers to the most basic questions related to gender and gender equality. For example, here the users can find information about the types of violence against women, measures taken by the state to prevent discrimination and violence against women, as well as the importance of ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women.

On the site the users can also find educational videos about what a Protective Order is, why it is important to adopt a law to protect women from harassment and violence, as well as motivational videos.
