Uzbekistan Eyed as Host for Future WTTC Global Summit

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan is steadily developing its tourism sector and expanding cooperation with leading international organizations.

A key partner in this effort is the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), an international body bringing together major companies in the tourism and hospitality industry to promote sustainable development and share best practices.

During the ITB Berlin 2026 international tourism exhibition, Abdullaziz Akkulov, Chairman of the Committee for Tourism of Uzbekistan, met with WTTC President Gloria Manzo.

The discussion focused on Uzbekistan’s participation in global initiatives, raising industry standards, and accurately measuring tourism’s contribution to the economy using WTTC analytics. Investment opportunities, attraction of international hotel and restaurant brands, and improving Uzbekistan’s competitiveness in the global tourism market were also addressed.

Following the meeting, Uzbekistan agreed to join WTTC and to prepare a cooperation agreement between the Tourism Committee and the organization, drawing on the experience of countries like Saudi Arabia, Italy, and Malta.

Future plans include comprehensive analysis of Uzbekistan’s tourism sector, B2B and B2C meetings with WTTC members and international investors, showcasing investment projects, and expert support in sustainable and digital tourism.

Given Uzbekistan’s growing infrastructure, favorable business environment, and collaboration with WTTC, hosting the WTTC Global Summit in the country is considered a promising initiative. The forum would highlight Uzbekistan as a platform for sustainable tourism discussions, attract global companies and investors, and strengthen the country’s presence on the world tourism map.
