Uzbekistan Explores International Financial Cooperation with NASDAQ
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 10 June, the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting with a delegation from the NASDAQ Stock Exchange (National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotation), led by Edward Stanley Knight, Executive Vice Chairman.
The meeting was attended by Ilkhom Norkulov, First Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance, Ilhomjon Umurzakov, Deputy Minister, Giorgi Paresishvili, Chairman of the Uzbekistan Stock Exchange, as well as other key stakeholders.
Discussions focused on the development of Uzbekistan’s capital markets, technology transfer based on international best practices, and the implementation of advanced market infrastructure solutions.
The NASDAQ delegation shared its experience in building adaptive trading platforms that ensure high-speed and secure transactions for investors.
The parties reviewed plans to strengthen the technical capacity of the Tashkent Stock Exchange, develop an integrated trading infrastructure for government bonds, equities, and other financial instruments on a single platform, and enhance liquidity and risk management capabilities for market participants.
NASDAQ representatives emphasized that the company currently supplies technology to more than 50 countries and regional exchanges, supporting stable and efficient operations. They also expressed strong confidence in the growth potential of Uzbekistan’s capital markets, and proposed various models for cooperation.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to pursue a long-term strategic technology partnership, aimed at accelerating the digital transformation of Uzbekistan’s financial markets, attracting more international investors, and increasing the competitiveness and appeal of the local capital market.
