Uzbekistan Explores Belarus’ Experience in Nuclear Power
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan is closely studying Belarus’ experience in the construction and operation of nuclear power plants, as part of preparations for its own nuclear energy project.
This was stated by Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Belarus, Rakhmatulla Nazarov, following a meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. Nazarov noted that developing nuclear energy is one of the promising areas of bilateral cooperation.
Uzbekistan is particularly interested in Belarus’ experience in building and developing infrastructure for the city of Ostrovets, where the Belarusian nuclear power plant is located, to support the professionals working at the facility. The ambassador expressed hope that a delegation from Uzbekistan will soon visit Belarus to study the practical experience firsthand.
Uzbekistan is currently preparing for the construction of a nuclear power plant in the Farish district of Jizzakh region, which is expected to be implemented with the participation of the Russian state corporation Rosatom.
During the meeting, President Lukashenko expressed Belarus’ readiness to assist Uzbekistan in developing nuclear energy. He highlighted that Belarusian specialists have acquired valuable expertise through cooperation with Russian partners in constructing nuclear facilities and work together on projects worldwide. Lukashenko invited Uzbek representatives to engage directly with Belarusian experts to exchange knowledge and best practices.
The Belarusian president emphasized that Uzbekistan will be able to assess independently the areas where Belarus’ experience can be most beneficial, and confirmed Belarus’ commitment to provide support in implementing the nuclear power plant project.
