Uzbekistan establishes medal for the 80th anniversary of victory in World War II
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has issued a decree establishing the commemorative jubilee medal "80th Anniversary of Victory in World War II" (Ikkinchi jahon urushidagi g‘alabaning 80 yilligi).
This award will be presented to Uzbek citizens who participated in World War II and those recognized as equivalent. Eligible recipients include individuals previously awarded the “Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945” and “Victory over Japan” medals, as well as other military decorations for wartime service. The medal will also be granted to those with official war participant or disabled war veteran status.
Additionally, the medal is designated for labor front veterans who contributed to the victory during World War II. This includes individuals awarded medals such as “For Valiant Labor in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945,” “For Labor Valor,” and “For Labor Distinction,” as well as those officially employed in the Armed Forces in civilian roles during the war years.
The Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Internal Affairs, State Security Service, Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction, and the Off-Budget Pension Fund under the Ministry of Economy and Finance will oversee the selection and approval of recipients.
A formal medal presentation ceremony will take place on 9 May – the Day of Remembrance and Honor. Awardees will also receive a one-time monetary payment.
