Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 19 February this yer, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ibrohim Abdurakhmonov held talks with Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ayman Ashur as part of his official visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt.
The parties exchanged views on the work carried out within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed in October 2022 between the two countries in the development of science, research and innovation.
Ibrohim Abdurakhmonov informed about the tasks, goals and plans of the newly created Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, and also noted the need to develop and implement cooperation projects in the field of higher and professional education.
In addition, an exchange of views took place on the issue of teaching by professors and teachers of universities in Egypt in universities in Uzbekistan. The Egyptian side, in turn, supported this proposal. The parties agreed on the issue of attracting Egyptian specialists in the field of journalism, tourism and natural sciences to Uzbekistan.
Also, the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Arab Republic of Egypt discussed and signed a draft roadmap for 2023-2024.
It should be noted that strong ties have been established between Uzbekistan and Egypt in the field of higher education, in particular, in the field of the Arabic language and Arabic literature, Islamic studies, source studies, the economy of the countries of the Arab East, pharmacology, agriculture, veterinary medicine, etc.
At the same time, specialists in the Arabic language are being trained in a number of universities of our republic. In particular, at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan, the Uzbek State University of World Languages, the Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages, the Tashkent State University of the Uzbek Language and Literature, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, more than 4,000 students study Arabic as a separate area of study.
