Uzbekistan Discusses Unified Food Safety Control System
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A meeting of the Public Council under the President for the Support of Entrepreneurship and expert groups was held at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan to discuss a draft presidential decree on introducing a unified state system for managing and controlling food safety, veterinary and phytosanitary supervision.
According to the document, it is proposed to consolidate all state control functions — phytosanitary, quarantine, sanitary-epidemiological, hygienic and veterinary — within a single committee.
The new approach would allow businesses to obtain permits to bring products to market through a single application, eliminating the need for multiple inspections of the same product by different agencies.
The system is also expected to strengthen oversight of product quality and safety, providing more effective protection for consumers against substandard and potentially hazardous goods.
Proposals and comments raised during the meeting will be taken into account in further refining the draft decree.
