Uzbekistan Discusses Türkiye Investment Issues
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A roundtable meeting with more than 20 representatives of business circles from Türkiye was held in Tashkent on 13 March under the chairmanship of Laziz Kudratov.
The main goal of the meeting was to discuss issues faced by investors from Türkiye operating in Uzbekistan and to develop practical solutions for their prompt resolution. The event was attended by executives and representatives of major Turkish companies, including Anadolu Group, Albayrak Group, Ziraat Bank, Cengiz Holding, Çalık Holding, Aksa Energy, Eczacıbaşı Esan, OSTIM Organized Industrial Zone and Nobel Ilac.
The Turkish side noted the high level of attention given to investors by Shavkat Mirziyoyev and highlighted the effectiveness of mechanisms for promptly addressing emerging issues.
Such an open dialogue format between the government and business is practiced in only a limited number of countries.
During the meeting, participants discussed practical aspects of Turkish companies’ activities in Uzbekistan, including product labeling, accounts receivable issues, infrastructure support and labor regulation.
Following the roundtable, responsible officials were designated and instructions were issued to promptly address the issues raised.
Trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Türkiye continues to develop actively. Over the past five years, bilateral trade has increased from US$2.5 billion in 2020 to US$3 billion, while the number of joint ventures has grown 3.5 times, from 613 to 2,149. The volume of Turkish investments implemented during this period has risen 4.5 times to reach US$3.1 billion. Around 100 flights are currently operated weekly between the two countries.
Investments from Türkiye are currently being implemented in sectors such as energy, geology, construction materials manufacturing, agriculture and healthcare.
The total value of ongoing projects involving capital from Türkiye is estimated at around US$10 billion.
