Uzbekistan Discusses Prospects for Uzbek Companies’ Entry into International Financial Markets with Oppenheimer
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 23 January, Akram Aliev, Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, held a meeting with John Tonelli, Managing Director and Head of Debt Capital Markets at the investment firm Oppenheimer & Co. Inc.
During the discussions, the parties addressed the development of Uzbekistan’s financial markets, financing for promising investment projects, and opportunities for Uzbek companies to access international capital markets, including initial public offerings and the issuance of debt instruments.
Particular attention was given to attracting financing for projects in infrastructure, industrial manufacturing, energy, and other priority sectors of the economy.
The talks also covered potential sovereign and corporate bond issuances, as well as the preparation of private-sector companies for engagement with international investors.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in continuing dialogue, expanding practical cooperation, and jointly exploring promising areas of collaboration.
