Uzbekistan Discusses Implementation of ChatGPT EDU and AI Education Development with OpenAI

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Representatives of Uzbekistan held their first working meeting with OpenAI leadership, including Valerie Fokke, Deeps Patel, Shaiga Ali, and Carlotta Serrano, who oversee education and partnership initiatives.

During the meeting, the parties discussed Uzbekistan’s strategy in artificial intelligence and digitalization, as well as the launch of ChatGPT EDU — OpenAI’s educational platform.

The platform will enable teachers and students to work with powerful language models in a secure environment, create custom AI assistants, and develop educational materials.

Special attention was given to personalized learning, where AI adapts to each student’s knowledge level, pace, and interests. This approach allows educators to identify learning gaps, assign individual tasks, automate grading, and reduce paperwork, allowing more time for direct interaction with students.

The parties agreed not to create a separate program, but to complement the national initiative “1 Million AI Leaders” with courses and expertise from OpenAI, providing students, teachers, and university staff access to AI at global standards.

Support for local startups was also discussed, including preferential access and credits for using OpenAI’s API, participation in hackathons, and acceleration programs.

OpenAI representatives emphasized their readiness to assist in creating AI products — from educational platforms to business services.

As part of the infrastructure for localizing technologies, plans were presented for a GPU cluster and an Uzbek-language data corpus. OpenAI noted that their models already understand Uzbek well and expressed interest in further joint development in this area.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to prepare a roadmap in three directions: implementing ChatGPT EDU in universities, developing mass AI education, and supporting startup initiatives and hackathons.
