Uzbekistan Discusses Economic Reform and Privatization Priorities with Rothschild & Co

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 21 January, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov held a meeting with a delegation from the international firm Rothschild & Co, led by Supervisory Board member Arielle Mallard de Rothschild.

Rothschild & Co is one of the world’s leading financial advisory groups, with a history spanning more than 200 years. The firm provides strategic financial advice, supports mergers and acquisitions, privatization processes and capital market transactions, engages in asset management, and develops comprehensive financial solutions for both the public and private sectors.

During the meeting, the parties held detailed discussions on the progress and priorities of Uzbekistan’s large-scale economic reforms. Views were exchanged on measures being implemented as part of the phased transition to market-based principles in the energy sector, the outcomes of ongoing reforms, the development of the banking and financial system, and the current status of privatization processes involving state-owned banks.

Particular attention was given to the transformation of major state-owned enterprises, the improvement of corporate governance mechanisms, and efforts to enhance their investment attractiveness.

Following the talks, the sides agreed to further develop mutually beneficial cooperation, establish systematic and consistent engagement across a number of priority areas, and continue constructive dialogue going forward.
