Uzbekistan Discusses Agricultural Business Opportunities within Rural Development Project

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 17 October 2025, the second phase of the Ministry of Economy and Finance’s “Comprehensive Rural Development” project included a roundtable dedicated to expanding business opportunities in the agricultural sector. The event was organized in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The discussion was attended by Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Samandar Sadullaev, UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan Akiko Fujii, representatives of the Islamic Development Bank, regional hokimiyats, relevant ministries and agencies, as well as international experts.

Participants reviewed the results of work completed under the joint project and identified priority areas for the next phase. The “Comprehensive Rural Development” project involves the implementation of 763 subprojects aimed at constructing and renovating social infrastructure and road networks in 157 mahallas across 21 remote locations in Samarkand, Kashkadarya, and Surkhandarya regions.

The roundtable paid special attention to in-depth assessment of agricultural business potential and the introduction of climate-resilient solutions. Experts presented an analysis of the current state of the agricultural sector in the project regions, discussed development prospects, the adoption of climate-resilient crops, and measures to increase farm incomes.

Following the meeting, participants exchanged views and received expert guidance on pressing issues, emphasizing the importance of continued cooperation for the sustainable development of rural areas.
