Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan’s experience in the promotion and protection of women’s rights is presented at a three-day online workshop on “Tools and strategies for the effective implementation of the Women, Peace and Security Agenda” organized by the OSCE Secretariat.
According to the National Human Rights Centre of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a capacity-building workshop is being held for experts from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Dilnoza Muratova, Deputy Director of the National Human Rights Centre of the Republic of Uzbekistan, made a presentation on domestic experience in the promotion and protection of women’s rights.
D. Muratova noted the importance of promoting the advancement of women in the political, economic and social spheres. The full and meaningful participation of women at all levels of decision-making leads to the creation of more peaceful and prosperous societies. Uzbekistan is developing a National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security to empower women.
The workshop is attended by representatives of ministries and agencies responsible for the development and implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) for the implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution 1325 or other national action plans on gender equality and women’s rights. Participants also include representatives of civil society, including women and girls.
The participants are discussing the achievements and challenges in women’s empowerment and gender equality, as well as harmonization of UNSCR 1325 with documents on gender equality.
An important part of the workshop was the discussion of the experience of the OSCE participating States in the implementation of this resolution. The presentation of the Senior Adviser on Gender Issues at the OSCE Secretariat Amarsanaa Darisuren was devoted to this issue. She also noted the importance of developing appropriate national action plans and strategies.
