Uzbekistan Delegation Studies Belarus’ Experience in Light Industry
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of an official visit to the Republic of Belarus, a delegation from Uzbekistan led by Senate Chairperson Tanzila Narbaeva visited the leather and footwear plant Marko, one of the country’s largest and most advanced light industry enterprises.
The Uzbek side reviewed the company’s production facilities, technological solutions, and product range, including new collections and export-oriented models of footwear, textiles, and leather goods.
The delegation was also introduced to the activities of Bellegprom, a state concern that unites more than 60 industrial, trade, and research organizations in the textile, leather-footwear, and apparel sectors. Belarusian representatives highlighted the concern’s export strategy, the introduction of innovative technologies, and its cooperation with international brands.
Particular emphasis was placed on research and educational cooperation. Since 2019, joint programs have been successfully implemented between the Tashkent Institute of Light Industry, Karakalpak State University, and Vitebsk State Technological University. Over the past two years, dozens of Uzbek students have been trained in apparel design, footwear, and textile technologies.
Scientific collaboration is also expanding through joint publications, Uzbek scholars’ participation in editorial boards, student grants, and projects such as the development of environmentally friendly polymer-textile materials.
Currently, preparations are underway to launch a new two-year joint scientific project.
