Uzbekistan Delegation Participates in BRICS Summit
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from Uzbekistan, headed by the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Sodiq Safoyev, took part in the 17th BRICS Summit held on 6–7 July 2025, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The forum brought together representatives from 38 countries and international organizations. Discussions covered a wide range of pressing global issues, including the deepening of trade and economic ties, addressing the impacts of climate change and financing related efforts, strengthening cooperation in ensuring global peace and security, the development of artificial intelligence, and the integration of healthcare systems.
The Uzbek delegation delivered a presentation on the broad reforms currently underway in the country. Special emphasis was placed on Uzbekistan’s efforts to modernize its economy, improve its education and healthcare systems, reduce poverty, accelerate digitalization, and transition toward a green economy.
At the conclusion of the summit, a final declaration was adopted, in which Uzbekistan was officially granted the status of BRICS partner.
