Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 18 May 2025, a delegation from Uzbekistan took part in the official enthronement ceremony of Pope Leo XIV.

The Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, Nuriddin Ismoilov, attended the event as the official representative of Uzbekistan.

Approximately 250,000 people from around the world gathered in St. Peter’s Square and the surrounding area to witness the historic occasion. Following the formal proceedings, Nuriddin Ismoilov extended congratulations to the newly elected Pope and conveyed warm greetings on behalf of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

In response, Pope Leo XIV expressed deep gratitude to the leadership and people of Uzbekistan.

The ceremony was also attended by delegations from 156 countries, members of royal families, and representatives of various religious denominations.
