Uzbekistan Defeats Turkmenistan 2-1 in CAFA Nations Cup Match

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Uzbekistan national football team secured a victory in the second round of the CAFA Nations Cup, defeating Turkmenistan with the score 2-1.

Igor Sergeev opened the scoring for Uzbekistan in the 37th minute and added a second seven minutes later by converting a penalty.

In the 59th minute, Uzbekistan’s Farrukh Saifiev received a straight red card for striking the Turkmen goalkeeper.

Turkmenistan’s Didar Durdiyev scored a penalty in the 84th minute, narrowing the deficit, but Uzbekistan held on for the win.

In the third round of the CAFA Nations Cup, Uzbekistan will face Kyrgyzstan, who were defeated 2-1 by Oman in their previous match. The game is scheduled for 5 September.
