Uzbekistan cuts cotton-fiber output by 1.5% year-on-year

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan decreased cotton-fiber output in January by 1.5% year-on-year to 133,800 tonnes.

Ginneries of Uzpakhtasanoat cut cotton-fiber output by 1.5% to 133,500 tonnes. Enterprises with foreign investments decreased output by 2.3 times to 274.8 tonnes.

Uzbekistan produced 1.088 million tonnes of cotton-fiber in 2009, which is down 7.6% year-on-year.

Uzbekistan produced 3.4 million tonnes of raw cotton in 2009, which is the same volume of 2008.
