Uzbekistan Considers WTO-Aligned Export Procedure Reforms
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan (UzLiDeP) faction in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis reviewed a draft law proposing amendments to the Law “On Licensing, Permit, and Notification Procedures.”
The draft aims to bring domestic export regulation into alignment with World Trade Organization (WTO) requirements. The proposed changes would abolish the current system of issuing export permits based on presidential and government decisions.
Additionally, the amendments suggest removing restrictive measures applied to legal entities for violations in the export sector.
Faction member Dilmurod Artikov noted that the draft was thoroughly examined in light of the party’s programmatic priorities. He emphasized that the proposed norms are intended to expand the country’s export potential, eliminate existing administrative barriers, and create a competitive and open market environment.
The faction voted in favor of supporting the draft law while also presenting suggestions for its further refinement.
