Uzbekistan Considers Relocating Freight Stations from Tashkent to Tashkent Region
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan is evaluating the possibility of relocating freight railway stations from Tashkent city to Tashkent region, with connections to the new international airport under construction.
The initiative is part of a presidential decree issued on 24 February 2026, focused on measures to implement integrated construction mechanisms and ensure transparency in the development of residential complexes.
As part of the roadmap, authorities are preparing proposals for the placement of railway logistics infrastructure, taking into account the airport project. The President has instructed a comprehensive analysis of station relocation and cargo facilities, considering urbanization, transport efficiency, logistics, and investment potential.
Final proposals will be reviewed by the Coordinating Council for Sustainable Urban Development and Housing Market and submitted to the Presidential Administration. The task is led by the Ministry of Transport, Uzbekiston Temir Yo‘llari, and the National Committee on Sustainable Urban Development and Housing, with a completion deadline set for May 2026.
