Uzbekistan Confirms Its Status as a World Leader in Olympic Boxing

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The first series of world rankings in Olympic boxing, published by World Boxing, has once again confirmed Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan as leading nations in the sport.

Uzbekistan is represented in the rankings by twelve athletes — seven men and five women, all placing in the top 5 worldwide across 20 weight categories. Among the men, the leaders include:

Abdumalik Khalokov (60 kg) — 1st place, 3,000 points; lightweight leader; gold medalist at the Paris 2024 Olympics and Liverpool 2025 World Championship.

Asadhuya Muydinhujaev (65 kg) — 1st place, 3,000 points; world and Olympic champion.

Fazliddin Erkinboev (75 kg) — 5th place, 1,650 points.

Javohir Ummataliyev (80 kg) — 5th place, 1,650 points.

Turabek Khabibullaev (90 kg) — 5th place, 1,650 points.

In the men’s categories, all top-ranking positions are held exclusively by Uzbek or Kazakh athletes, highlighting the strength and consistency of Uzbekistan’s national boxing development system.

Acting Secretary General of World Boxing Mike McEtie noted: “The rankings are based on a detailed methodology and reflect objective performance results over the past three years. They will also be used for seeding participants in future championships and multi-sport events.”

The World Boxing ranking system covers senior elite boxers and considers results from the last three years, starting with the Paris 2024 Olympics. To be included, a boxer must have participated in at least one official World Boxing-sanctioned competition.
