Uzbekistan Commissioned 15.8 Million Square Meters of Housing and Social Facilities In 2025
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In 2025, the number of enterprises and business entities operating in Uzbekistan’s construction sector exceeded 55,000, marking a 12% increase compared to 2024, according to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan.
The gross value added generated by the sector amounted to 110 trillion soums.
Over the course of the year, the construction industry provided employment for more than one million citizens, including both permanent and seasonal jobs.
Additionally, the country saw the construction of over 18,000 multi-story residential buildings, commercial and administrative complexes, industrial facilities, and social infrastructure. A total of 15.8 million square meters of housing were commissioned, representing a significant step toward meeting the population’s housing needs.
However, the industry continues to face several systemic challenges. While construction cycles in many countries typically last around 1.5 years, in Uzbekistan this process takes nearly twice as long—up to three years. Most of the time is spent by developers on obtaining approvals and processing land and construction documentation across various organizations, which slows project implementation and increases business costs.
