Uzbekistan Citizen Honored in Gagra for Rescuing Veteran from Burning Apartment

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — An Uzbekistan citizen, Fakhriddin Suyarov, who rescued a World War II veteran from a burning apartment in Gagra, has been awarded a letter of appreciation and a cash reward by the Gagra district administration.

The incident occurred on 11 January, when a fire broke out in the pensioner’s apartment due to a short circuit in an electrical socket. Despite the risk to his own life, Fakhriddin Suyarov entered the burning apartment and carried out Yevdokiya Kotlyarova, a World War II veteran who is unable to move independently.

As a result of the fire, the loggia was completely destroyed along with the property stored there, while the remaining rooms of the apartment were covered in soot. No injuries were reported, and the woman’s health condition is assessed as satisfactory.

The district administration said restoration work in the apartment will be carried out using funds from the local budget.
