Uzbekistan Central Bank Boosts Financial Access for Disabled
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Central Bank of Uzbekistan held the first meeting of a working group dedicated to enhancing financial access for people with disabilities, with participation from experts of commercial banks.
The meeting took place within the framework of the National Strategy for Increasing Financial Accessibility for 2025–2030, as well as a roadmap developed in cooperation with the National Agency for Social Protection.
The primary goal was to begin developing unified recommendations for financial institutions aimed at creating a more inclusive environment and expanding access to banking services.
Participants discussed existing barriers faced by people with disabilities in accessing financial services and outlined potential timelines for preparing recommendations. Special attention was given to adapting banking products to meet the needs of this group, developing branch infrastructure, implementing fintech solutions, and studying international best practices in inclusive banking.
The Central Bank presented the results of an initial monitoring, which showed that most commercial banks provide only basic physical accessibility, while specialized products and services for people with disabilities remain underdeveloped.
Key directions for further work were identified, and stages for preparing the recommendations were agreed upon.
The implementation of these measures is expected to create a more accessible and inclusive financial system, ensuring equal opportunities for all segments of the population.
