Uzbekistan Car Imports Surge Over Threefold in Early 2026
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In January–February 2026, Uzbekistan imported vehicles worth US$260.2 million, more than 3.3 times higher than the same period in 2025, when imports totaled US$79.8 million, according to data from the Uzbekistan Customs Committee.
The largest growth was in passenger cars, whose imports rose from US$76 million to US$256.2 million, an increase of 236%.
Electric vehicles saw a record surge, increasing from 1,556 units worth US$17.99 million in January–February 2025 to 9,698 units valued at US$158.7 million in 2026, representing a nearly 790% increase in quantity and 782% in value.
Petrol-powered passenger cars were imported at 2,988 units worth US$55.95 million, compared to 2,746 units worth US$55.88 million a year earlier, showing stable growth in numbers with nearly unchanged value.
Hybrid vehicles running on petrol and electricity rose from 70 units worth US$2.16 million to 1,249 units valued at US$41.2 million, an increase of 1,678% in quantity and almost 18 times in value.
Diesel passenger cars appeared for the first time in many years, with 5 units worth US$343.8 thousand.
Imports of other vehicles grew from US$3.81 million to US$4.07 million, a 6.7% increase.
