Uzbekistan can prohibit free issuance of packages from polymer films
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Starting from 2019, free distribution of packages from polymer films may be banned in Uzbekistan.

This measure is envisaged by a draft government resolution “On measures to further improve and develop the sanitation system”. The document was published for discussion.

The document says that this decision is aimed at preventing pollution of the environment.

The draft resolution proposes to prohibit inclusion of the cost of packages of polymer films in the cost of the realized goods and realization of such packages below their cost.

The document said that all manufacturers and customers of packages from polymer films should apply matrix codes to the packages for scanners to read them at the cash registers of outlets.

It is planned to introduce a ban for production and import into Uzbekistan of packages of polymer films used for packaging of goods in the trade, less than 15 microns thick and less than 5 liters capacity. From 1 January 2020, this prohibition will apply to packages less than 50 microns thick and less than 10 liters.

The exception will be packages of up to 1 liter, without handles, with advertising and information logos, which are part of the packaging of loose and non-solid products, as well as packages sold in retail networks with rolls of at least 50 pieces for household use.
