Uzbekistan Builds 52-Meter “Wall of Civilizations and Discoveries”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A monumental art installation titled the “Wall of Civilizations and Discoveries” is being created at the Museum of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan. The exhibit will span 52 meters in length and reach a height of 5 meters.

More than 10 large-scale miniatures dedicated to the era of the Second Renaissance will be featured on the wall. Around 50 artists are involved in crafting the compositions.

The miniatures are being produced in the traditions of the Herat, Bukhara, and Samarkand schools of painting. Central themes include prominent scholars, civilizations, and great scientific and cultural breakthroughs. Notably, styles from the Shiraz and Isfahan schools were deliberately excluded to maintain a distinct regional identity. The artwork is created on high-quality fabric using gold leaf imported from Italy.

At the center of the wall, visitors will find scenes depicting Amir Temur’s coronation at the “Balkh Kurultai,” his contributions to science and architecture, the construction of the Bibi-Khanym Mosque, and the scholarly legacy of Mirzo Ulughbeg.

The exhibition will also highlight figures such as Alisher Navoi, Husayn Bayqarah, and Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur, along with the rich cultural milieu of their time.
