Uzbekistan Boosts National Team with Medical, Coaching Staff

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan national football team is strengthening its medical and coaching staff in preparation for the FIFA Series tournament and upcoming training camps, enlisting experienced international specialists, the Uzbekistan Football Association reports.

Among the additions is Enrico Castellacci, a specialist in sports medicine and orthopedics who previously served as team doctor for Italy national football team. Castellacci also led the Italian Football Doctors Association and served as vice president of the National Association of Orthopedic Traumatologists.

Italian physiotherapist Simone Sigilio, with experience at clubs including Palermo, Salernitana, and Benevento, has also joined the medical team.

The coaching staff will be reinforced by former Napoli player Paolo Cannavaro, who will serve as assistant to head coach Fabio Cannavaro, leading the national team since October last year. The brothers previously collaborated at Guangzhou in China and in Italian clubs Benevento and Udinese.

While the Uzbekistan Football Association has not officially announced Paolo Cannavaro’s appointment, his Instagram profile lists him as assistant coach of the national team.
