Uzbekistan Blocks Illegal Import of Synthetic Drugs

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbek security services have intercepted attempts to smuggle synthetic narcotics and potent medications during coordinated operations.

In one case, a young man born in 2003, previously under surveillance in Tashkent, was stopped at the Erkin checkpoint in Chilanzar district while traveling through Zangiota district. Officers discovered 4.811 kg of the synthetic drug “Alpha PVP” in his Nexia 3 vehicle, which was seized as evidence. An investigation has been opened under Articles 28, 246 Part 2, and 25, 273 Part 5 of Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code, and the suspect is in custody.

In another case, Border Guard servicemen of the State Security Service (SGB) detained two local residents, born in 1985 and 1987, at the Bobokhuroson area of Marhamat district, Andijan region. They received a box of medications from a Kyrgyz citizen, which contained 9,988 potent “Zardex” pills. A criminal case under Article 246 Part 1 has been initiated, and both suspects are in custody.

Investigations are ongoing.
