Business circles of Belgium, representatives of Wallonia Foreign Trade and Investment Agency, Flanders Investment and Trade Agency, Association of Industrial Enterprises of Belgium Agoria, as well as the delegation of Uzbekistan led by Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Investment and Trade of Uzbekistan Elyor Ganiev participated at the event, Jahon news agency reported.
The sides familiarized with social-economic development of Uzbekistan in 2012 and priorities for 2013, measures on diversification of industries of economy and efforts on improving business environment for foreign investors.
Olivier Willocx, Managing Director of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Brussels, said that participation of large number of people at the business-seminar shows great interest of the Belgian business circles to develop trade-economic and investment cooperation with Uzbekistan. He positively rated social-economic reforms in Uzbekistan, as well as high level of macroeconomic figures and sustainable development of the Uzbek economy. He said that dynamic growth of the GDP at the level of over 8% is important factor for selection of Belgium in doing business in Uzbekistan.
The Uzbek side also presented perspective investment projects for joint implementation in Uzbekistan. It was noted that Uzbekistan is interested in trade-economic cooperation with Belgian businesses, attraction of modern technologies and equipment, production of export-oriented products with high value added cost.
The Belgian companies also expressed interest in free industrial and economic zone “Navoi”, special industrial zone “Angren” and special industrial zone “Jizzakh”, which provide preferences to the entities, which operate in these zones.
Within the event, the Uzbek side presented perspectives of investment cooperation in oil and gas sectors, as well as energy industry. The sides exchanged opinion on development of bilateral cooperation in chemistry, construction, food and automobile industry, electrotechnical, ICT and other sectors.
