Uzbekistan Begins Sending SMS Warnings to Residents with Unpaid Waste Collection Fees

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan has launched a mass SMS notification campaign targeting residents with outstanding waste collection fees.

As of 15 January 2026, warning messages were sent to 118,646 subscribers from the short number 2100, covering unpaid waste disposal fees totaling 9.3 billion soums, according to the press service of the Agency for Waste Management and Circular Economy Development.

The agency clarified that if payment is not made within five days of receiving the SMS, subscribers’ ability to pay for electricity will be temporarily restricted.

This measure applies to debts accrued for waste collection services from 1 July 2025, onward.
