Uzbekistan bans ads of medicines for underage without permission of health ministry

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan introduced ban for advertisement of medicaments for underage without permission of Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan.

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a law "On introduction of changes and amendments to some legislative acts of Uzbekistan" on 30 April 2013. It introduces corresponding changes to legislation.

The document was passed by Legislative Chamber on 20 March 2013 and approved by Senate on 28 March 2013. The law came into force on 1 May 2013.

The amendments said that it is banned to advertise medicaments, designed for underage, without permission of the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan.

As reported earlier, Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan registered the resolution “On introduction of changes to regulation on placement of advertisement” of the State Committee on demonopolization and competition development.

The resolution said that placement of advertisement of medical products for under ages in print media, TV and radio stations is not allowed without permission of the Ministry of Healthcare of Uzbekistan.

To obtain permission, applicants should submit application and text of advertisement (or video or audio of advertisement) of medical products for under ages to the Ministry of Healthcare, the document said.
