Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 6 September 2021, the Uzbek-Bangladesh Business Forum was held in Tashkent.
The forum was attended by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade S. Umurzakov, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce A. Ikramov and Adviser to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh on the private sector, industry and investment Salmon Fazlur Rahmon.
The event was also attended by over 20 government officials and representatives of the business community of Bangladesh, as well as other representatives of ministries, departments and agencies of Uzbekistan.
The main goal of the event is to discuss the current state and prospects of bilateral trade, economic, investment cooperation, as well as strengthening cooperation between the two countries in creating additional opportunities for entrepreneurs.
At today's business forum Uzbekistan-Bangladesh, attention was paid to strengthening cooperation between the business community of the two countries.
At the beginning of the event, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade S. Umurzakov noted that bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Bangladesh are reaching a new level of mutual trust and partnership, which will strengthen cooperation between the two countries in many areas.
In his speech, the chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry A. Ikramov emphasized the importance of creating a Business Council for holding such important events with the business circles of Uzbekistan and Bangladesh and defining clear goals and prospects for cooperation.
Further, the adviser to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh S. Fazlur at the beginning of his speech congratulated the Uzbek people on the 30th anniversary of the independence of our country. At the same time, Bangladesh expressed readiness and satisfaction with cooperation with Uzbekistan in all areas.
During the event, participants made presentations on economic opportunities by industry, and an open dialogue was organized between representatives of the business community on cooperation in various fields.
During the business forum, the guests were familiarized with the work done in cooperation with Bangladesh, as well as with presentation materials on the investment potential of Uzbekistan.
As of 2020, the foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan with Bangladesh amounted to about US$38 million, an increase of 13%. Exports amounted to US$22.4 million, imports - US$15.6 million.
At the end of the event, representatives of the Uzbek and Bangladeshi private sector, who took part in today's event, expressed their desire to contribute to the further development of joint projects in the two countries with the participation of their capital.
