Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan sign agreement on cooperation in emergency situations
The document was signed by the Minister of Emergency situations of Uzbekistan Tursinhan Hudaybergenov and his Azerbaijani counterpart Kyamaladdin Geydarov.
Geydarov told to Jahon news agency that the document opens new horizons for developing fruitful cooperation, exchange of experience in preventing man-caused and natural catastrophes.
He said that before the signing ceremony, the sides exchanged opinion on organization of joint drills and participation in international exercises.
Azerbaijani Minister said that Azerbaijan is happy to deepen bilateral cooperation as seismic activities in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan are similar. He said that the sides can learn a lot from each other.
The agreement will give new stimulus of cooperation in such area as rescue citizens and preventing emergency situations, as well as research activities.
Azerbaijani Minister visited the Tashkent Earthquake Simulation Complex at the Institute of Civil Defense after the signing ceremony to familiarize with its activities. He also visited Museum of history of seismology development in Uzbekistan.
