Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In recent years, Uzbekistan has been strengthening economic diplomacy, giving priority to pursuing an open and pragmatic foreign policy, further developing relations with partners, and expanding the geography of external relations. As a result of the ongoing work in this direction, mutually beneficial cooperation, both with our closest neighbors and with leading countries with developed economies, rises to a higher level.
On 1 April 2022, the Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis Nuriddinjon Ismoilov met with a delegation led by the Chairman of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova.
As noted at the beginning of the talks, in recent years, as a result of the political will of the leaders of the two countries, the long-term fair policy, cooperation between our countries has reached a new level. In particular, inter-parliamentary cooperation has intensified.
During the meeting, members of the delegation were given detailed information about the large-scale reforms being carried out in all spheres of the country’s life, including changes in the socio-economic sphere. They also spoke about the legislative activity of the parliament, rule-making, methods of work of committees and factions, and innovations in the field of parliamentarism.
The Chairman of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Sahiba Gafarova, expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, noted the importance of strengthening inter-parliamentary ties, holding a regular dialogue, and also expressed interest in further strengthening relations.
At the meeting, which was held in the spirit of mutual trust, issues of expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan and enriching relations with new practical content were discussed. Attention is also focused on the further development of trade, economic and investment cooperation between our countries, as well as the expansion of ties in other areas.
The parties agreed to continue the further development of friendly relations and inter-parliamentary cooperation.
