Uzbekistan, Austria discuss issues of developing economic cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Sixth session of the Austrian-Uzbek Joint Commission for Bilateral Economic Relations was held in Vienna, Jahon news agency reported.

Representatives of ministries and departments of two states, regulating foreign economic relations, financial-banking, economic, trade-industry, water management, companies, working in production of food, pharmaceutical, medical, and other sectors participated at the event.

The session underlined that Uzbekistan and Austria are interested in increasing bilateral trade turnover, expanding trade-economic, investment and scientific-technical cooperation. The sides have great potential for developing mutual cooperation in pharmaceuticals, chemical and textile industry, science and technologies, tourism, standardization and ecology.

At the end of the session, the sides signed a protocol of the session, which included agreements on further strengthening and expanding of cooperation in various areas.

Federal Economic Chamber of Austria hosted an Uzbek-Austrian Business Forum, which was attended by over 40 Austrian companies. The participants considered perspectives of wide range of issues of economic potential and opportunities of two nations.

The Austrian side received information on reforms in political and social-economic spheres, as well as current economic situation in Uzbekistan, preferences created for foreign investors.

They also received information on conditions created at Navoi free industrial-economic zone, Angren special industrial zone and Jizzakh special industrial zone.

The sides exchanged opinion on issues of developing cooperation and attracting Austrian companies in privatization process in Uzbekistan.
