Uzbekistan and World Bank Discuss Expanding Cooperation in Agriculture and Environment
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 9 December, in Tashkent, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov held a meeting with Sameh Wahba, Regional Director of the World Bank for Sustainable Development in Europe and Central Asia.
The negotiations were also attended by Anastasia Alexandrova, World Bank Program Coordinator for Uzbekistan; Azad Abdulhamid, Senior Water Resources Management Specialist; Pierre Gerber, Senior Agriculture Specialist; as well as representatives of relevant ministries and agencies.
The parties discussed macroeconomic trends in Uzbekistan, the current state of bilateral cooperation, the progress of ongoing projects, and the results achieved. Particular attention was given to the development of agriculture through the adoption of modern practices and technologies, effective water resource management, modernization of irrigation networks, and ensuring stable water supply to irrigated lands.
The discussions also covered the establishment of systems to combat air pollution, development of green infrastructure, and improvement of energy efficiency.
As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue expanding cooperation, maintain regular exchanges of views, and carry out systematic work to achieve the set objectives.
