Uzbekistan and World Bank discuss expanding cooperation and support for economic reforms
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 16 October, on the sidelines of the Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund, Vice President of the World Bank for Finance and Development Akihiko Nishio met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Kuchkarov.
The meeting was also attended by Paloma Anós Casero, Director of the International Development Association (IDA) for Resource Mobilization, Chairman of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan Timur Ishmetov, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Ilkhomjon Umrzakov, and other senior officials.
The parties discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation, including expanding collaboration with the International Development Association (IDA) and supporting the country’s sustainable economic growth.
It was noted that as a result of large-scale structural, fiscal, and institutional reforms, Uzbekistan has maintained macroeconomic stability and sustained growth rates.
The participants also exchanged views on prospects for strengthening macroeconomic indicators, ensuring long-term economic growth, and improving cooperation mechanisms with international financial institutions.
Following the talks, the sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the partnership, creating an effective platform for dialogue, and expanding cooperation in the implementation of investment projects and support for ongoing reforms.
