Uzbekistan and Vietnam discuss expanding cooperation at Senate meeting

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A meeting took place at the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan between First Deputy Chairman of the Senate Sodik Safoyev and a delegation from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang. The discussions focused on strengthening and expanding bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, Sodik Safoyev emphasized that Uzbekistan views Vietnam as one of its key and reliable partners in Southeast Asia. He noted the strong potential for further development of relations in political, trade, economic, investment, and cultural-humanitarian spheres.

Special attention was given to organizing high-level mutual visits. Both sides stressed the importance of intensifying political dialogue, strengthening interparliamentary ties, and implementing joint projects that would be mutually beneficial.

The growing role of parliamentary diplomacy in bilateral relations was also highlighted. In this regard, Vietnam’s parliamentary leadership expressed interest in participating in the 150th anniversary assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, scheduled to take place in Tashkent from 5 to 9 April 2025.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to constructive dialogue and pledged support for joint initiatives aimed at deepening Uzbekistan-Vietnam cooperation.

This visit marks another step in strengthening strategic partnership between the two countries, opening new prospects for mutually beneficial collaboration across various sectors.
