Uzbekistan and UNIDO Discuss Expansion of Strategic Partnership
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Munira Aminova, Adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, held a meeting on 4 December in Vienna with a delegation of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) led by Fatou Haidara, Deputy Director General and Managing Director of the Directorate of Global Partnerships and External Relations, the Dunyo news agency reports.
During the talks, the parties discussed priority areas for expanding cooperation and prospects for a strategic partnership. They reviewed preparations for signing a basic cooperation agreement, as well as an initiative to establish a Regional Hub for green technologies aimed at strengthening the region’s innovation and environmental capacities.
Special attention was given to the invitation extended to UNIDO’s Director General to visit Uzbekistan and to the conditions for opening an official UNIDO office in the country.
The discussions also covered the implementation of joint projects in pharmaceuticals, standardization, electrical engineering and other priority sectors that support industrial development and the introduction of advanced technologies in Uzbekistan.
