Uzbekistan and Türkiye Expand Practical Cooperation in Forestry
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Türkiye in the field of forestry is gaining particular importance in the country’s state policy, reports the Hungarian magazine Eurasia Magazine.
A key milestone in this collaboration was an educational and practical seminar held in Türkiye in October 2025, during the visit of a delegation from the Forestry Agency under Uzbekistan’s National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change. The event was organized jointly with the Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
Participants of the seminar were introduced to Türkiye’s experience in forest creation and restoration, sustainable management of forest resources, and ecological classification. Special attention was given to practices such as establishing forest nurseries, afforestation in mountainous regions using terracing methods, creating “green belts” around cities, and organizing public parks.
The delegation visited the Seydikemir and Gökova nurseries in Muğla Province. The Seydikemir nursery, covering 144 hectares, can produce up to 1.5 million seedlings annually, while the Gökova nursery produces up to 7 million seedlings per year. Modern technologies enable a 90–95% survival rate for high-quality planting material.
Additionally, participants learned about the operation of greenhouses and in vitro laboratories, the use of modern equipment, and the planning of seasonal processes.
At the conclusion of the visit, it was emphasized that cooperation with Türkiye is becoming increasingly practical and will contribute to the development of Uzbekistan’s national forestry system, as well as to strengthening the country’s environmental sustainability.
