Uzbekistan and Türkiye agree to expand multimodal transport corridor
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Center for Transport and Logistics Development under the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan held an online meeting with the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Türkiye, with participation from the railway authorities of both countries.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for expanding the international multimodal transport corridor along the route Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan – Iran – Türkiye. The implementation of this corridor is stipulated in the protocol signed during the 12th Meeting of Transport Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), held in November 2023 in Tashkent.
The sides also exchanged views on the consolidation of cargo at key logistics hubs in Türkiye, with subsequent dispatch to Uzbekistan via block trains.
Additionally, the parties agreed to coordinate efforts aimed at creating favorable conditions for freight transportation along the route American continent – Türkiye – Caucasus – Central Asia.
At the end of the meeting, the Turkish side invited the Uzbek delegation to participate in the “Global Forum on Transport Connectivity – 2025,” which will take place on 25 June in Istanbul with the participation of transport ministers from several countries.
