Uzbekistan and Türkiye Agree to Establish US$30 Million Hybrid Seed Center
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During the official visit of the Uzbek Ministry of Agriculture delegation to Türkiye, significant agreements were reached in the agricultural sector.
The delegation was led by Shokhrukh Akramov, head of one of the Ministry’s departments. During the visit, negotiations and business meetings were held with leading agro-industrial and investment companies in Türkiye.
Particular attention was given to the meeting with the management of Armada Brand Seed, a company specializing in the production of parental and maternal seeds for corn and pistachio crops. The Turkish company showcased advanced breeding technologies and modern seed production methods. In turn, the Uzbek side detailed the favorable conditions for foreign investors, including tax and customs incentives, land provision, infrastructure support, and state backing.
As a result of the discussions, both parties agreed to implement the “Uzbekistan Hybrid Seed Center” project, with an investment of US$30 million. The initiative aims to develop the modern seed production sector, increase crop yields, and produce import-substituting products.
Additionally, in Ankara, the Uzbek delegation held business talks with executives from over ten leading Turkish companies in agriculture, food processing, and trade. Participants included the business association MÜSİAD, representing more than 12,000 members across 60 countries; Doğanlar Tarım, specializing in agrotechnologies and seed production; and Promaks Grain, engaged in processing, storage, and export of cereals.
During the discussions, Turkish companies presented their interests in the Uzbek market and investment opportunities. The Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan provided information on ongoing reforms in the agricultural sector and the extensive conditions created to attract investors. Both sides expressed mutual interest in further developing cooperation.
